I have connected the DI701 to a cable modem and to HUB that connected to 3 computers. somehow I have managed to get a valid IP adress from my ISP but i cant seem to be able to surf the internet or send pings outside ??? !!! The configurations in the TCP/IP settings are automatic and I dont need to specify any DNS or gateway..so as for the configuration in the the firewall of D-Link they are set to auto config.
If anybody knows whats the problem I would be more happy to hear about it!!!!

The DI701 should automatically pick up the IP settings from your ISP.
First, make sure your clients IP info is correct.
For W2K and XP choose start -> run -> "cmd" -> ipconfig /all.
For Win9x choose start -> run -> winipcfg. Verify that you have the default gateway set to the internal ip address of the DI701 and verify that the DNS is set to a valid server. If that is correct, ping the interanl and external addresses of the gateway. (i.e. 192.168.x.x and 68.56.x.x) If you can reach both, most likely the trouble is between you and ISP.
Many ISPs will assign an IP if you connect a modem to your tv line (provided your area has coverage). But they block the MAC address which has to be called in.
If you have purchased the service, they will be happy to update your account info with the mac of the DI701.
