Cut my CATV cable outside

February 21, 2009 at 17:39:46
Specs: Windows XP
I have accidentally cut my CATV cable outside. My house is installed with CATV connection. My phone line is not working (no dial tone), however; I have checked the gray box outside, and it has dial tone. I went to Radio Shack and bought RG- 6 coupler and the F-81 cable coupler. I have joined both ends together and it still did not work. Could you help me, what should I do? Thank you

Why not call the cable company?

Cutting the cable shouldn't have effected the phone line. You should call the cable company. If you admit to them that you cut the cable, they'll bill you fro the repairs.

As for the phone, if the test port is working in the phone box outside, unless you have the interior coverage (from phonebox to house), you'll have to pay them as well for any interior repairs.
