hey,
i have a crossover network in my home. (2 pcs connected to each other via crossover cable). I am using AnalogX Proxy to share my internet connexion (DSL)... and I am not pleased with it. AnalogyX Proxy does not support Socks 5 and lacks support for many applications that I want to use on my other pc.
Does anyone know a better Proxy Server app that I can use to share my DSL connexion? All suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
MetaBoyX
P.s. I have tried WinGate and have not had much luck with it (WinGate Pro trial). Help in using this app. would also be helpful to me.
(I have to Dial-up to connect my DSL -- its not "always on", and I don't know the server address and port.)
Thanks again.

WINROUT PRO or LITE is the best proxy I have seen.. you can port map anything with it and it is very flexable.. But unless you have some HIGHLY SECRET FILES on your system somer hacker would want. you can simply install a shareware NAT program that will give you seemless thoughput..

Hi MetaBoy,
I would suggest you dont use Wingate as it needs a great deal of support and must be set up correctly or it can be exploited causing you much more trouble than you may be able to handle...
WinRoute is a very good NAT server but usually requires 2 network cards to be used as thats how it works..
I think what you need is a reliable server which offers easy hassle free setup, and i would have to suggest you try using BrowseGate Proxy server, its a very good proxy and supports virtually everything you may need including support for dialup and cable users.
If you have any problems post us a message on our forum, hope this info helps.
