Ok here's the setup that i'm using for my LAN connection: One computer (my PC) has the modem plugged into it (a D-link ADSL modem). A crossover cable connects the PC to my laptop. Connectivity between the two computers is perfect, I can share files and they both "see" each other.

The problem is, however, while I have full internet access on my PC, I am unable to connect to the internet via my laptop. The connection comes up on the Laptop as being connected to the internet (says its sharing the PC's ADSL connection), but when I try to use MSN or IE6, not much happens. However, Kazaa Lite lets me connect and I can use that fine. IE6 and MSN are giving me huge problems though, I cant connect to MSN at all, and (strangely) I can get to Google through IE6, and also to a guitar forum, but that's about it. I can search through google for anything, but all links dont come up.

What the fudgemonkey is going on???! I have formatted both PC and Laptop, but to no avail. However, my school formatted my laptop for me and maybe the Novell software changed some of the settings or something? (its deleted now but the damage has been done).

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

When you invoke ICS, the machine becomes a simple DHCP server, so it is essential you set the laptop to DHCP & NOT a static IP, that way the ICS is available to all machines hooked to the one with ICS invoked. You may may be able to browse both machines because you have correct static IP's assigned but for ICS they must be of the format 192.168.0.xxx because that is the range assigned by DHCP.
