crossover cable with a router

i have a wireless router, and i am trying to connect one computer to it with a wire, i have a 100 foot cat5 crossover cable, will that work? thanks alot paul

no, a crossover cable is only for comp to comp connections, to go to a router you need a normal straight through cable

A lot of newer consumer routers have auto-sensing ports... if yours has them, you can use both crossover and straight-through cables.

If you don't have auto-sensing ports and still need that length of cable. Just couple a smaller crossover cable onto it and it turns it back into a straight. :)
