Creating wifi hotspot using Windows 7 Desktop

Specs: Windows XP, 2.20 gigahertz AMD Sempron 1920 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory NVIDIA GeForce 7025 / NVIDIA nForce 630a [Display adapter]
I have desktop with windows 7. I am connected to internet through D-link ADSL 2+ router using RJ 45 cable. I want to create wifi hot spot on this desktop. I tried installing connectify software. But when I try to configure hot spot with connectify it says No wi-fi device present. Now what hardware do I exactly need to turn my comp into wifi hotspot?

I had a quick look online at the specs for that router and it appears to be wireless capable so I'm not sure why you feel the need to make a wireless hotspot out of your PC. That seems rather redundant to me when you can just create a WLAN on the router itself.

To be honest, I'm not sure you can make a wireless hotspot out of your PC.

If there's some reason the wireless from your router won't reach where you are you could buy a small 8 port switch and connect it to your router (using the cable that's presently plugged into your PC) and then you could plug your PC into the switch and another client or 7 as well.

If you have some strange need to do it wirelessly, buy a WAP (wireless access point) and plug it into the switch as well as your PC and that would give you wireless where your PC is.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the captain of my soul.
