Are you asking how to setup an ftp server within your network or are you asking how to ftp to existing ftp servers?

If it's the latter (ie: you ftp to existing ftp sites) then for the most part, open ftp's are set to allow anybody (called an "anonymous" connection) to connect using the following information:

username: anonymous
password: your email address

If they require you have an account, you have to create that with them.

Install filezilla server.

Consider using sftp or other more secure setups.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
