You'll want to have a close look at the options available to the xcopy command and can do so in a command prompt window by typing:
I suspect you will want to use some of them so have a close look and do some tests before writing your batchfile.
Alternatively, you could use the Windows ntbackup if you're using XP Pro. Unfortunately, ntbackup isn't available in XP Home.
