Hi,
I am having a 5 MBps internet connection at home. I am using motorola SB5100 cable modem and negear rangemax WPN824 V2 router.
Following are the list of devices that shares my internet connection.
1. Two VOIP services (callcentric and viatalk).
2. PC's internet/downloads etc (bitcomet mostly)
3. Belkin wireless ethernet bridge which is connected to a TV receiver supplied by www.channellive.tv.My netgear WPN824 V2 router doesn't support the QOS option.
Is there a way I can control the internet bandwidth for the above devices?
My VOIP phone services should use the maximum bandwidth when I use the phones. When phones are not in use, my TV receiver should get higher bandwidth. The bitcomet client should get a good bandwidth only if the phones and the tv receiver are not in use.Is there a way to acheive this? I already googled a little bit and I could see that DD-WRT firmware is also not supported by my router. The SPI firewall is disabled in my router and DMZ entry is also empty.
Can some one let me know how I can control the internet bandwidth for my devices?
Thanks,
Balaji.

Hi,
If I have to use some software like netlimiter to control the bandwidth, can you please suggest freewares? I don't wanna pay for anything for now.
Thanks,
Balaji.

Your only solution is to replace your router with one that supports QoS.
Otherwise you have to route everything thru a workstation with two nics and software to control bandwidth which will be more expensive than replacing the router.
'tis the season to be of good cheer. Wishing one and all happy times with family and friends.
