Comment:

For some reason, I am having constant internet activity of an average speed of 5.60KB/s for both download and upload.

I have no programs that should be useing my internet connection, I have also scanned for viruses, spyware and adware... and it came up with nothing.

I also end tasked as much as I could in windows task manager and my internet is still active. I also disabled automatic updates... my virus scanner update says it's idle and up to date.

Any idea whats using up my ADSL connection?

Thanks in advance!

Try to look in the internet option.

(Tools => internet options => Connections. Maybe a wrong dailer or something is installed there. After one wrong click on a webpage it could be set.

This thing must be deleted.

(it can be found in that box "Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings". If this box is empty, try to look in the "LAN Settings". Check if also everything is normal there.

Thanks for the reply,

All those settings appear to be normal. No dialers or anything.

Did this suddenly happen or was this actually from the start?

And is your computer behind a router or something? Or is it directly connected to the internet?
