i just got a new sony grx670 laptop and i found that it doesnt have a serial port so i cant console onto my cisco routers, and i dont want to buy a port replicator for 200$. i saw a few usb to serial devices(http://www.usbgear.com/usa/usb_adapters.html) but they are made for game controllers and im not sure how or if it will work with hyperterminal. If anyone knows how to fix this please post a reply.

I believe that Casey was asking if you had alreay configured the router and thus could then telnet to it. I don't know about USB to serial adapters you mentioned but it shouldn't be hard to find an old laptop or PC around that you can use to do the inital config and then use your new laptop to telnet to the router.

The USB Serial adapter should work as long as you can assign a COM port to it.
