Comment: Hi, We have a home network. My son's computer is the host and his icon says that he is connected at 400 Mbps. I am using the adapter to connect at 54 Mbps. I do not have a hi power usb port so I was told that my connection would not be that fast. It's fast enough for me. Downloading 30 pieces of email in 2 seconds is great. Anyway. When I first hooked up the dsl service I was only connecting at 100 Mbps. How do you think that jump from 100 to 400 occurred? And is that really fast or do you think I read his Mbps wrong. Can't get into his computer right now to check. Thanks, Kate

Reply: (edit)why is his pc the host? buy a 4 port router and connect all the pc using cat5 network cable, then all pcs will connect directly to your dsl through the router and should have similar speeds assuming there is a not a huge difference in your hardware. another way to check your speed is at: http://webservices.cnet.com/Bandwidth/

Reply: (edit)westwood01 makes a good point it makes better sense to just buy a router and both of you can enjoy some better speed performance.

Reply: (edit)I guess we should give your some choices if you don't know about these. Some brands that people use a lot are Linksys or D-Link (to name just a few). You want to get a DSL/Cable router and then plug your modem into the router by the WAN port and then plug all your computers into other ports. Then you can share the net. Hope this helps.

Reply: (edit)I am using this ADSL combined modem/router the RJ45 port is connected to an old 10mbps RJ45/BNC hub, speed tests are very good on my LAN PC's, also as you can use both the USB and RJ45 simultaneously got a 200MMX PC connected to the USB with no speed problems whatsoever: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=57418
