Hi
I'm having problems connecting to the internet. At different times during the day the connection speed changes. Generally it is at it's fastest in the morning and is slower in the evening; at times it doesn't even connect at all. This problem is not caused by the computer being left on and connected to the internet all day as the internet is slow or doesn't connect even if the computer is only turned on in the evening. I use talk talk broadband and have checked the connection speeds using www.speedtest.net. The speed ranges from 1666kb/s in the morning to 161kb/s at night.
Any help or ideas on what the problem may be will greatly help. Thanks. Rob
A friend of mine had the same problem 4 weeks ago. His ISP switched another user to the same port, so that when the other user was online and downloading big files, the speed slows down dramatically.
His ISP checked the line and switched the other customer to another port and everthing works.
Sounds normal but your ISP pipes into the internet are being overloaded at specific times , nightime from probably 5-9 pm will be your slowest times because everyone is on . I would have them test your lines be it cable or DSL . if you have cable then it sounds like you have too many people on your segment and it is overloaded , everyone on cable shares the same bandwidth within a given segment and its a half duplex environment .
