Specs: Windows 7, pentium 4 8 gigs
have a windows eight (8) O.S. & my room-mate has Vista Ultimate. Wanting to hook them both up wirelessly through a Cisco Valet Plus Router (MS-20) & a Motorola SB-5120 Modem. My windows 8 & my hp printer hooked up to it fine, but not my room-mates Vista Ultimate. What are we doing wrong ? Thanks for any & all help.

Can your room mate see your router in available wifi connections? Are you broadcasting SSID and did you set up security encryption in the router?

Have you tried temporarily disabling the security to see if your room mate can connect to an open connection?

Probably due to different security levels on computers and router.

Might have to set security for lowest denominator.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

OK now you should reset the security to the highest encryption level compatible with all the systems you wish to connect. Leaving it unsecured is an open invitation for external leaches to use up your bandwidth and access your own systems.
