At my job we have internet connection. All of the computers are connected to a hub. They all have internet access but no file charing. The'll not even listed under Network Neighborhood. All you could do is go online. All of them are win98 and my labtop is XP. The labtop network card is Realtek RTL139/810. Now i search thru this site and read many and many of post about this but non of them help. XP does detect the connection and those tiny square images on the taskbar comes out with the messege Connected to Local Area Network 10.0k. something like that. So i know that it connects but when i click on my internet explorer that page comes up asking me to check my connections. I went to the connections setting and set it up to detect my LAN connections AUTO but that didnt help. All i want is connect to my Jobs LAN so that i can go online. Any advice would be great.

You need to make sure that your laptop is set up to use the correct gateway and DNS server as the other computers. Go look at the network properties of one of the Win98 machines under the TCP/IP protocol and write down the information. Make sure your computer is set up the same...only with a different IP address.
