Hi all,

Okay, my company has a network server with two NICs running Windows 2000 Server. Each NIC is on a separate network. NIC A is connected to a dedicated Frame Relay with a static IP address and subnet mask. Network B is connected to the company's intranet with a static IP address, Subnet, Default Gateway, DNS, and WINS.

Heres the situation, my company has vehicles out in the field. They would like the vehicles connected to the Frame Relay to access other servers on the company's intranet. How do I have network A connect to Network B?

Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help!

Wouldn't the first question be how are the vehicles are connecting to the FR connection?

To connect A to B you enable routing via RRAS though using a server as a router is not a recommendation I would make.

There are also a number of security concerns that need to be considered.

Each of the vehicles have a wireless modem. We're using the wireless modem for our AVL solution which comes in on Network A. Network A is on a dedicated Frame Relay. Security is not an issue. The purpose of connecting Network A to Network B is to allow access to the company's intranet (software and such).

May I ask why you prefer not to network through the server using RRAS?

Servers have other duties and I prefer a hardware device for such configs as they are faster and have better security.

There are a number of firewall devices like sonicwall, watchguard and others that along with a vpn client give you mobile secure access to your network. You would use it to go to network B instead of your server.
