Hi,

I have some networking qustions for you guru's out there..due to downsizing, I've been given the task of network admin and I'm lost!

So here are my questions:
1 - If you have 3 switches, and connect 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, is that considered daisy chaining?
2 - If you have 3 switches, is it better to have switch 2 and 3 plugged directly into #1? And is this considered "home run"?
3 - In scenario #1, which one should have the router and servers plugged into it? And in scenario #2, the router and servers would go into #1..correct?

Thanks for any input you can give!

Never do 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 unless you have to.

internet router<> 1st switch [referred to as the backbone switch] then off it are your servers and other switches.

but this is the LAST thing you should be touching if new. old saying if it aint broke don't fix it.
