I have two phone lines with an ADSL modem-router on each line. One router is connected to four PCs and the other router to three Pcs. One of the networks has a laser printer and the other an inkjet printer.
Is it possible to give the PCs on one of the networks access to the printer on the other network?
Any help would be much appreciated, it is too complex for me.

Sure, use a router or any layer 3 device between to two networks..

Are the two networks on different subnets or the same one?

If the same then you could likely get away with a crossover cable between routers (LAN port to LAN port).

If they're on different subnets, you'd need a router in between in order to route between the two subnets.

Of course you realize in either of the above cases that you will be giving access not only to the printer but also all PC's on that subnet should you connect the two networks.

If security is an issue, you'll have to purchase another printer for the network that doesn't have one. Mind you, it may be possible to put dual NIC's into the printer and have one configured for each network. That however, is something you'd have to ask the printer manufacturer about.

I would agree with that, but your not telling him, you need to add additional nic in each pc, cause your one cable is already connected to the router, then on each computer, depending how you address the 2 nic's, you might need to turn on IP forwarding" thus, you have a router.

Answer would be yes.

Before your head becomes full of technical jargon which you won't understand, you need to tell us the following.

Without this information ANY advice given is a waste of time.

1. Are these routers at the same or different sites?
2. Tell us what the gateway ip is at each site/router. You can get this info from a pc and run the command ipconfig. Post the gateway ip from a pc attached to router1 and from a pc attached to router2.
3. Are these network printers or just shared printers
4. How would you rate your computer/network skill set?

Example of Oxymoron:

Person who is pro life and anti sex education.
Education is key to prevention. Prevent conception you prevent abortion.

Abstinence training clearly isn't working.

Pardon me but, what are you talking about???

I can think of no scenario where this would require putting a second NIC in any PC (with the exception of making one PC a 'router' which isn't worth bothering with considering he already has two routers), much less all of them. Perhaps you should reread the original post so you understand what he's asking.
