connect ethernet cable from modem to wan port on router.
connect another ethernet cable from router port to the ethernet card on the back of the computer.
the address into the router should be 192.168.1.1.
it could be 192.168.0.1, but the modem may use that dns.
the log in into the router will be admin then, try no password at first.
in the router, open wireless tab, enter in the ssid the name of a wireless network you want to use. can be anything.
if you don't know the security 'wep' number , just let windows provide it when you setup up the next wireless pc or laptop.

If you only want a wireless home network - then you don't even need to use the modem. Just use the router!! Then all your home wireless PC's will be connected together with each other. If you want to connect outside to the internet, you will need a ISP (Internet service provider) who can tell you if the modem you have will work or if you will need a specific modem in order to connect to the internet using the IPS's service.
