I have tried looking for information on how to connect my laptop to my pc without success. I am using a static address in our istitutes LAN and inserted another nic card on the PC. I installed CMS proxy and assinged my additional nic the address 192.168.1.1 and the laptop with 192.168.1.2 and couldnt get a connection. I even tried with the Laptop to automatically detect the settings all in vain. Who can assist or suggest a web that can guide me through.
I lok forward to assistance..
Thanks in advance...

Your post is a bit confused - how are you trying to connect (you mention your institutes LAN - red herring?). Are you just connecting the 2 machines? (crossover cable, hub, router?). It should be straightforward.
