Specs: Windows XP
I have a wireless router that i use for my laptop, but I also have an old desktop that I would like to go online with and update but it does not have a wireless connector, what would be the simplest and cheapest way to do this?

If you can't get the desktop PC near enough to the router to use a wired (ethernet) connection which most PCs already have as standard, you can by a self-fit wireless adapter in the form of either an external USB unit (looks like a pen-drive), or as an internal PCI card which has a short antenna attached to it.

Examples of USB wireless adapters:

Internal PCI card wireless adapters:

If you prefer an internal wireless card instead of a USB stick, check that your PC has a spare, compatible expansion slot before buying!

Do first look at the possibility of moving your PC nearer to the router if at all possible, so that you can use a wired connection. A wired connection is much more reliable than wireless, and usually faster.

Thanks for the quick reply I have been having trouble logging back in to reply. I will look into this my router does not have a ethernet connection so I will look into the adapters. Is there anyway to connect my laptop to the desktop and connect to the internet that way?
