I bought a new netgear Cable/Dsl Wireless Router. I can't get interent access yet becuase i have AOL DSL and the modem wont hook up to the router (it's a USB hookup). I do have the router connected to my pc through an ethernet cable. I can't get the computer to recognize the router. I want to be able to share files between my Desktop and PC. If anybody can help me with this problem I would appreciate it.

Well you need to plug an ADSL RJ45 modem into the router and the router sends out IP address to all connected computers, after you have configured as per setup guide.
You setup each computer to receive an IP address automatically, if you got an USB modem then the router is pointless as you only need to enable ICS on the PC with connection.
Two PC's use one crossover cable, three or more use RJ45 patch cables to a hub or switch.
As far as I am aware there is only one Router which has the ability to use an USB modem (though it is a limited choice)

Perhaps I can help since I just connected the same Netgear wireless router to my cable modem at home. You will note the the Netgear has two cable/dsl interfaces; rj45 and USB. You should be able to use the USB in your case to connect the netgear and your ADSL. Otherwise if your ADSL is using rj45 then use a standard patch cable [came in the box]to connect to the rj45 port on the netgear [not the 4 hub ports!].
Then connect a another patch cable from your ethernet card in your pc to one of the hub ports in the netgear. Configure your tcp/ip stack to use dhcp and reboot your pc. Bring up iexplorer and follow the instuctions in the netgear manual for logging into the netgear.
If you want another pc connected then connect it to the netgear hub port and also set the tcp/ip to dhcp. The netgear will automaticly assign each wkst a ip address. Setting up wireless is a little more complicated in that you need to set the WEP id. Otherwise all of this is a peice of cake. Took me longer to route cables and setup the wireless laptop access then it did to configure the netgear and have a working hispeed internet access.
