OS: XP/vista
CPU/Ram: 1
Model/Manufacturer: hp
Comment:
I have a wired desktop(vista)in one room connected to a linksys wireless router. The desktop is directly wired to printer
I also have a wireless laptop(XP) in another room. How would i get both computers to use the printer. I know i can buy a wireless Print Server but is there a way I can just use the wireless router to share the printer.

share the printer from desktop. install a network printer from laptop ( when add printer, chose network printer instead of local printer).

printer server should be expenssive than second printer.

Can you see the wired PC from your laptop? If so, and if the printer is attached as shared to the PC, you can also find the printer by going to Start - Run, and typing the following in the Open window:

\\<name of PC to which the printer is attached>.

Then right-click on the printer icon that will appear in the list under the PC, and left-click on Connect in the menu that pops up. Follow the prompts, and that should give your laptop access to the printer.
