Connecting 2 home Networks?

Hello,
If I have 2 home networks under 2 hubs or switches and I want to make another network connecting both these networks together then what do I have to do? Can anybody Help, Thanksssss

Please tell in detail the distance between the two home networks
Distance only matters chosing the proper network

1) by modem
2) join the two by cable
3)by vpn
4) by internet
