If you are talking about connecting remotely....dialup networking can be used. One computer would have to be running in "server" mode and the other in "client". I don't see much point in spending money on PCAnywhere when you have built in software to do just that.
If you're talking about creating a small LAN (local area network). Then I highly recommend you buy two NIC's and a crossover cable. It's not only a whole lot faster, it's simpler to setup.
