Just recently my internet has been constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. It displays "A network cable is unplugged" and then reconnects about a half a second later.
My local network consists of 2 computers + xbox360. I have a Verizon DSL connection. I called Verizon earlier and they said there was nothing wrong with the router. They probably just want to get out of paying for another. (The router came free with the connection and has some sort of free replacement deal)
I have tried various ways to try to fix the connection problem.
This includes:
Resetting the router
Unplugging/plugging in the router
Turning the computers on and off
Ipconfig /release /renew
Changing my ip to dynamic from static
Checking the cables
Scanning both computers with Spybot, Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware, CCleaner, and Ad-aware.I've had the same Westell VersaLink model 327W router for around 6 years. Is it possible the router is starting to show its age? It worked fine up until a little after Christmas. How much does a good router cost?
What are some other things that could be causing this connection problem?
