Connect wirelessly to internet

Specs: Windows XP
I have Windows XP and I cannot connect wirelessly because everytime I unplug the internet cord from my PC and try my usb adaptor, it says ''connected'', then I try to log onto the internet but it says '' cannot display the internet'' etc. What am I doing wrong, please help!

Try this:

First, open your Network Connections and right cilck on the wired NIC and choose "disable" from the dropdown menu.

Then, connect to the WLAN. When you're connected with your wireless NIC, open a command prompt window (ie: Start >> Run >> type cmd and hit Enter) and perform the following command:

ipconfig /all
