|Linksys has always been a solid performer in the wireless router market. If you only need or want 802.11 b/g then the Linksys WRT54GL is perfect for roughly $50 on Newegg. If you need 802.11b, a/g, n, or ac then get the Linksys WRT1200AC for about $150 on Newegg. The differences are speed. |
802.11b: up to 11 Mbps,
802.11a/g: up to 54 Mbps,
802.11n (2.4 GHz): up to 400 Mbps,
802.11ac (5 GHz): up to 867 Mbps,
Netgear is OK too, but Linksys routers usually have the best reviews. I use Linksys with Linux and Mac OSX and my wife connects just fine with Windows 7.
EDIT: I would also like to add that you should check the reviews on the Newegg site for whatever router that you decide on and go from there.
