connect vista and xp with crossover cable

I want to connect 2 pcs, one with vista and one with xp via crossover cable. do i need to do anything special or do will i be able to use the normal assign them different ips, same subnet, reboot, go method? thanks

Most likely you don't even need the crossover cable. Try a standard patch first. Almost all newer nics auto for the correct cable.
