hi,
was trying to setup a dialup connection but when i come to the stage (pls see screeny), the option i need is greyed out.http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y133/foxxkat/dialup.jpg
i oredy have US Robotics modem installed, hardware device manager is showing the modem and there's no conflict or problems pertaining to the modem. (no red or yellow exclamation mark)
suggestions welcome,
thanks.

I had this issue once, i removed SP2 and reinstalled it
Prior to doing that though, I made sure the modem was on a correct COM port, and I also query'd it to make sure it communicated, it all did, so I reinstalled SP2 and I had the options I needed...How was SP2 installed? From SP1 being on the machine prior? or direct from XP pro to SP2?

hi, thanks for the insight.
my SP2 was installed straight from the SP2 package from MS site. there's no SP1 prior to the upgrade.does it mean i hav to uninstall SP2? i may hav a problem coz i think i'm not able to uninstall SP2 already.

Hi,
If "Connect using dial up modem" option is greyed out, try this registry fix :"Connect using a Dial-up Modem" is greyed out and unselectable in WindowsXP's New Connection Wizard
Occasionally, when running Windows XP's "New Connection Wizard", you'll get to the step labeled
"Internet Connection - How do you want to connect to the internet?", and find that the option you need,
"Connect using a dial-up modem", is greyed out, and unselectable. The first thing to always try, is to have the user click "Exit", and then immediately start the
New Connection Wizard again afterwards. This will sometimes do the trick. However, in some cases, the above doesn't work. In these instances, follow the steps below:
1. Type regedit in the window and click OK. This will open up the Registry Editor
2. In the registry editor window, click on the '+' sign next to HKey_Local_Machine.
3. Click on the '+' sign next to System.
4. Click on the '+' sign next to CurrentControlSet
5. Click on the '+' sign next to Services
6. Click on the '+' sign next to RasMan
7. Click on the '+' sign next to PPP
8. Click on the '+' sign next to EAP
9. Delete 25 and 26 folders
10. Close the Registry Editor, and restart the computer.
