I need to connect two Windows 2000 machines so that they can share files and printers. What is the simple way to do it? Both machines have network cards (D-link) ready, and I have a patch cable available.

Thanks in advance.

Assure, that you have got a crossover patch cable (otherwise it wont work, you have to buy one), install a protocol e.g. ipx or tcp/ip and add them to the same workgroup.
