LOL, you would need 2 router

3.12->router(IPX)----router(IPX)->3.12

One router is the Dialup server and the other is doing the dailing.. you have to route IPX

could it be possible to use two 98/2kp clients to do this

as in there are windows clients in the network

is it possible to establish connectivity via these terminals

the two servers run a customized FOXPRO based inventory software and need a stable OS and 3.12 seems to work fine. without incident since the day it was installed 6 yrs ago....

the need is to now establish a backup solution across these sites using Norton Ghost for netware and a dialup hotline

regular file transfers are not needed

i.e. only a ghost image has to b transmitted ............

You would not need routers to route ipx between dialup. You could do server modem to server modem. NWconnect was the product, if I can recall back that far, that could do this for you.

This would only be viable if it was a local call.

But expecting dialup to xfer Norton Ghost images... I don't think a proper bandwidth analysis of what is proposed has been done.

You should seriously consider a Point to Point or Frame Relay link between these two offices. Talk to your local phone company. A point to point is better.

norton ghost uses TCP/IP think i could use that to rout traffic off a 98/2kp machine the hotline is a CDMA based hotline which the company claims will support transfers upto 112kbps

speed is not an issue if it took all nite

thats fine

time fram 4 bakup is 10 - 12 hrs

alternative like isdn etc ar not even remotel feasible financially

backup need not be a complete one but incremental

the overall change at the end of the day is not more than 5-10 mb

anyways the software uses new database files for each days transaction and if we incrementaly back up only those file

that would be great

so the need is to rout traffic TCP or IPX off a windows client to establis connectivity beetween two novell 3.12 networks

possible ????
