Connect PC to Laptop

I have a computer and a laptop. They both have WinXP SP2,how do i connect them both to transfer information from one to another.What cables do i need or hardware?Please help. Thanks in advance.

The answer depends on what if any network cards are already present in each system. If each already has an Ethernet port then all you need is a Cat5 crossover cable. Look in the walkthrough menu in Help & Support in your Start menu.

Most newer nic adapters can support autonegotiate so if only one has that ability then you can get a common patch cable instead of a cross over.
