Hi, i just bought an Acer 2355,with xp home and i would like to connect it to my pc, it's got xp pro.
I would like to know what kind of cable do i need or what do i have to go. I have no clue.
I also wanto to know if it's possible to use the programs from the other device, i.e.: use nero's pc program from the laptop.thanks

can you give more information like if you have a modem dial-up? broadband?
but if your pc is the one that has the internet just connect a ethernet cable on it and just connected on your laptop is pretty easy now you have internet in both computers
yes it is possible you just have to use something as remote desktop, or just share the program in your shared documents
if you want a more detailed answer please write back with more details

Hi, thanks for answering me. I just bought a wireless broadband modem.
Sorry, that's a silly question, but can i connect this ethernet cable into the phone line (where i connect the phone line for dial-up)?How can i set up that 'remote desktop'?
Sorry but i told you i have no idea, lol

danm kid looks like you need some help but dont worry ill do my best
do you have dsl or cable ?and you cannot connect the ethernet cable into the phone line the ethernet cable is to big and is suppose to be connected from your pc to you modem, and then from your modem connect the wireless router.
write back if you want more help because is a little hard to understand what you are trying to do.
if you have more questions write back but explain how do you want to set-up the network
example: 2 computers connected through cabless and your laptop through the wireless internet
one last thing do you have windows xp professional on all your pcs because that the only way remote desktop is going to work, unfortunaly windows xp home edition doesn't support this feauture

PLEASE WRITER BACK IF MY ADVICE WAS HELPFUL

i just bought a broadband.
the laptop is xp home, with the ethernet connection
the pc, xp pro, with no ethernet connection, just to phone line connections.
What i want to tryo to do, connect both computers to use both memories (I am dreaming or we can do it..)and if it's possible use programs between both computers. Example, use the nero installed in the pc, but from the laptop (can we do that?? or i am dreaming again...
As you can see i love to complicate myself
thanks mate you are the best.

Well ill tell you one thing your dreaming on the first thing you need both computers to have an ethernet connection so sorry the first thing is not possible. And no you cant do remoter desktop because both computers dont have xp pro
your problems are
1. no ethernet connection on the desktop
2. you dont have xp pro on both computers
solutionsbut look at first you told me you have a wireless router so its simple look connect the modem to the computer that has the ethernet connection and the computer that doesn't have a ethernet connection just connected to the wireless router.
and look to share programs like nero on the other computer just put it on the shared folders and you can access it from any computer in the network
again it might look complicated but its kind of hard to explain because you dont have the right hardware
everything that you are trying to do its possible but is hard for me to explain everything step by step plus since your computers need new hardware that cost money to do everything the easy way. I have to explain everything in a way that you dont have to buy anything thats why is so hard to explain and to do.
