Connect Ext. HD to Wireless Router?

Hello everyone...
Simple question: Can you connect an external hard drive directly to a Linksys WRT150N Home Router, and therefore to my Home network? I'd like to be able to access an external hard drive over my existing home network [with a laptop and desktop, both wireless] but without spending $500+ on an all-in-one wireless storage combo. I've never actually used an external hard drive, so if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.
Thank you; any help is appreciated!

An external HD has to be connected to a PC. Your thinking of an NAS device.

Connect the drive to one computer using USB, and then share it so you can access it from the other PC.

We’re not all the same
What a shame" - Shinedown

Thanks for the info guys; I think I'm going to buy a Linksys NAS200 and a 500gb Seagate drive. This way I can hook it all up to my router and access through my home network, internet, and FTP. Thank you again!
