Connect 3 laptops to 1 printer (No Server)

Specs: Windows XP
Hi Guys,

I was just wondering how to connect 3 laptops to 1 printer in my office?

We don’t have a server and all laptop contacted to internet wirelessly through a router next door. (I don’t have access to that router)

I was thinking to get a hub and then connect it to the Ethernet cable back of the printer and then connect it to each laptop?

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

If you have a network printer, you can connect the printer either to a switch or to the lan port of the wireless router.
Then you have to configure the printers ip address and install the driver on to the laptops and configure it, to use a network printer, as described in the printers manual.

Yep, if it's network printer, then it needs to be connected to wireless router, so that can be accessed by other 3 laptops.

If it's normal laptop, you can connect it to one of the laptops, after that share the printer on windows XP or other OS, so that could be shared to other laptop users.

Hope this helps.

Does the owner of the router know you are using his system? Poor security by both you and him.
