I have a Netgear WNR834B router wich is connected to my cable modem that has 2 computer connected by wire. My second router is WRT54G with the dd-wrt firmware. I want to connect the 2 together wirelessly so i can use it as a network extender.
I know there are other methods and products to do just this, but i just want some info how i am asking, please dont tell me to buy a AP or network extender. I understand this may cause problems having 2 routers or slow things but i really dont care.
Now the reason i want to do this is my laptop does not have a wireless card and i dont want to connect it next to the router but in another room. So is it possible to have my main router WNR834B connect wirelessly with my second router WRT54G and still supplying internet to the 2 computers connect by cable?
Also, if i do get the 2 routers connected can i connect to my second router by cable and get internet?
I really hope i made sense, any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

dont think this will work beacause they havent been designed for this use. i cant see a way of wirelessly connecting them and if you contect them with eithernet there might be conflicts. its confusing cos there a dns a switch and a bit of a router smushed into one device. if you could turn all the features off in the second one use it like a switch then it should work
