conflicting ip addres computer name

in my network ip address clashing is hapaning , all computers os is win98 and win nt , i am unable to detect the another computer which is having same ip as my Server win nt has,because the network campus is large so detecting another computer having same ip is deficult . so please help me How know ip address , netbios name and mac address by using any sofware for windows

when you get the ip address conflict message note the mac address listed in the message.
You then have to telnet to your switches and search the address table store for this mac address. Once you figure out which port you can physically go there to identify the problem pc.
Another approach is once you know the port you can disable it and wait until they call.

You might try running arp -a from a command prompt at your server. That will generate a table of IPs and corresponding MAC addresses running on your network.

Since you have the mac address from the message and you know the servers ip address there is only one other way that comes to mind to find the other pc.
Down the server. Do a nbtstat -A ipaddress and it will return the name of the problem station.
I hate even suggesting downing a server. Goes against the grain :-)

After shutdowning the server,from another node i typed the nbtstat -a with the ip address so i got the Workgroup name and Name of the computer using it .i solved the problem using this method .
