Conflict between wired & wireless

I have a problem when trying to use my wireless connection and wired Ethernet at the same time. This is the situation:
I have my laptop connected to my wireless Internet through an integrated wireless card. I have a cross-over cable connected to my Ethernet to share files with another system.
The conflict comes when I am trying to access to my shared folder from the other system while the wireless connection is active. I cannot access to my shared folder. I need to turn first the wireless connection off in order to be able to access my shared folder from the other system.
Is there a conflict between both the Ethernet and the Wireless card that doesn’t allow me to work with both devices at the same time? Is there any solution to avoid this conflict?

So you are sitting at the train station and you hear the train come. You have two doors available to go thru. Which contains the train?
This is where routing comes in. Engage ICS [internet connection sharing] between the two interfaces. This should tell the system which way to sharing and which way to the internet.
