Hi,
Ill try to keep this simple, but im not sure if ill get my point accross properly, here we go....lol
At my house I have a broadband based LAN.
It is set up like this..
broadband modem connected to a hub(I think its acctually said swith on the packet it came in though)then 3 desktop computers (Two running XPee and one running Win2K)
and a laptop also running XPee, all connected to the hub(its a 5 port ethernet hub oviously).(u got that? ,4 computers and a broadband modem all into 1 hub),fairly straight forward so far..
Now of course the Broadband modem has my phone line pluged into the other side of it to conect to the internet, its on all the time and we can use the phone at the same time...nothink new there..
this is where i think ill confuse some ppl though..i often take my laptop to work for study ect, (I work night shift and have time to fill in),now...pretend for a second that i DONT have a seperate dial up internet connection, but, is it possable for me to plug my laptop into the phone line where i work, plug the phone line at home (that is normally pluged into a phone) into the dial up modem in the back of any of the 3 desktop computers at home(they all have pci modems as well, not used unles the broadband connection is down of course). Then from my laptop at work, dial my home phone number, set the desktop computer to answer the phone call and conect me to the LAN at home, and from their let me access the internet that my home LAN is on(via broadband)..not worried about the speed of course I allready know that will be limited by the dial up modems ect,.
I have read it is possable for me to dial up say a friends computer direct via dial up modems and basicaly network 2 computers together that way without acctually accesing the internet..just over phone lines..
so is it possable for me to access my internet account at home and my 3 other computers from work threw just a basic phone call???without a seperate dial up accout.
Gee... I hope that makes sence to someone...lol
ps i tried reserching this here ..but without allot of luck..so its easier to just ask....I think..lol
Thanks in adavance.
