computers cant see each other

heres my set up isdn-usb>>stand alone computer>>rj45>>wireless broardband router>>laptop ..
both computers can use the internet but they cant see each other i have used the setup wizard hundreds of times now with no sucess both computers have sharing enabled and there firewalls are down if i take the router out and use a crossover cable everything works file shareing printers the works
but when i connect the router back up i can only access the net i have set the printers for shareing and installed them on the laptop but they are un available using wireless system any help you can give me will be greatly apprieciated ps i am a newbie to networking thanks guys

What protocols do you have installed? Can you ping each computer? Are both OS's XP home? Does the stand alone computer have 2 nic's? How is the wireless router setup? The default setup on those wouldn't be setup for what you want to do. They usually have a option for routing or to be used in an instance where the router would be hooked directly up to the isdn,cable,dsl etc, then your local network behind it.
