My computer won't connect to my DSL modem, directly. It works if I plug the computer into an ethernet hub and then plug the router into that, but that is only a 10 mbps hub and I have a 100 mbps Ethernet card. I have called my ISP and they sent me a new modem to see if that was the problem, but it wasn't. I think some of the settings are messed up. Any suggestions?

Specs:
-3Com EtherLink XL 10/100 PCI TX (3C905B-TX)
-Westell VersaLink Model 327W (Modem/Router)
-Also, the Modem is also a router built into one

I'm not familiar with that modem/router. It's possible that you have the wrong type of Ethernet cable. There are strait through cables and cross over cables. Most routers will work with either, but some (particularly the combo devices ISPs give out) won't.

A new cable is a quick, cheap way to find out.

Before you do that though, connect through the hub (aka, the working way), then check what your computer's IP address, gateway, and subnet are.

Switch to connecting directly to the router, and check the IP, gateway, and subnet again. Did anything change?

This is a new cable that I ran. The computer is in the other room, away from my modem/router and it is a regular CAT5 cable. My ISP gave me a short, 10 foot cable that this one's ends match, so I don't think that the cable could be the problem. It works even though it is slower. I tried hooking my laptop up to the cable and that worked fine so I don't know what the problem would be.

I get the "Network Has Limited or No Connectivity" sign when I hook the cable to the computer directly, but not with my laptop.

P.S. This modem/router has 4 ports on the back of it. One has another computer plugged into it and that one works fine. The other plugs into the other computer and that has the problem. I have tried rotating the ports and have tried 2 different network cards, but no effect.

Also, to answer your first question:
When I hook the cable up directly, it shows the IP address, but everything else is blank (in the network settings). The IP address did change.

I have that exact same wired/wireless modem-router.

Is the LAN/TCP/IP set to obtain an IP automatically?

What exactly is shown in ipconfig?

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.200.1

Directly hooked up (Not working way):

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.166.113
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0

You didn't answer my question. Is the LAN TCP/IP Configuration set to obtain the IP automatically? My settings are correct and working, and my DNS suffix is myhome.westell.com.

Yes. All of my settings are set to obtain the information automatically. IP address, DNS sever, and automatic private IP address are all set to obtain automatically.
