i have a computer on a gigabyte lan network. for some reason it browses the network slower and slower the longer i use it. and i just noticed that it takes awhile to open a program over the network. it use to be instant, now it takes about 2-3 seconds to open. can someone help me fix this or what to look for? thanx

How do you connect to the internet (yr comp may be tring to talk to the internet each time you try to move about yr network), what is in you hosts file. if you have the wrong info in your network setting your computer will have to hunt about the network for real thing and it will take its time. Could another computer be sending out usless info (i know one of my is i have detected it via zonealarm) Hope this helps

we connect through the internet through the server. before the host info was set on the computer wrong but i reconfigured it so it. when i reconfigured it, it was running top notch. just recently it started slowing down and there has been no changes made.

Dear, Just do one thing clear all offline & shared docs from my network place & just open the folder option from windows explorer then go to view tab & remove the check from automatically search for network & folder option. thats it , Network Associate

i can't clear the offline and shared docs from network places because other people on the network use them to calculate quotes. I'll try the folder options method and see how that works. thanks for the input.
