I have an older Compaq deskpro En series that my friend loaded winxp onto. I purchased a belkin wireless network card and the card will not fit into the PCI slot. it is too small. is this because the PC is an older model? I thought they made the PCI slots the same size throughout the years.

The slots themselves will be the same size as they are standardized and have been for a long time. What may not be the same from PC to PC is the amount of room surrounding the slot. If you have a short space and a long card then it won't fit.
