Server has recently been configured as a standalone server for a small elementary school. Server roles include: AD, DHCP, DNS, Print and file servers. I have successfully added client machines running both fully patched XP and Vista builds to the domain. Problem comes after ~5 minutes of connectivity. The client loses connection to the DC and all network resources with the exception of the Default gateway. I get no ping response from either the server or the client. I can however ping the default gateway. After 20 minutes or so connectivity resumes for a while then the process repeats.
During the down time, I can boot and log into another client and still access everything, so not likely there is a broadcast storm going on. I suspect DNS, but am not quite sure.
Any help would be much appreciated

Is it just one machine that has the problem? If so, give it a static IP address & static DNS. See if the problem resolves or not. Also, look at the event viewer.
