I have set up a network at my house now, consisting of D-Link switch (8 ports), routing pc (2 NIC's with sygate installed and working properly), and several client computers. I know that my network is working because I can ping the clients from the server and vice versa. Also pinging www.yahoo.com also works, but when I try to visit the website in a browser window, it says the destination address can't be reached. I have deducted that I can ping out, but can't recieve data! [duh!] (correct me if im wrong) I'm using the latest version of sygate and sygate's personal firewall, and I have allowed all access with the firewall so as it doesn't interphere for the time being.
Will someone please help me?

This may seem overly simple, but have you setup your browser properly to work through the Sygate proxy? If not, you will be able to ping successfully but your browser will not know to attempt to connect via the LAN or proxy, thus returning an error.

Sygate doesn't work on a proxy. It works on NAT.
And I have tried fiddling around with the lan settings, and the only way they have sharing in IE options, is through proxy, and since sygate doesn't run off proxy, I just turned it off, for direct connection, as it should be! Thing is, I know that the DNS is working because I can ping IP's as well as websites, as I stated before.

If you set it to autodetect, it doesn't work, I just disabled all of the net connection options, and that defaults it to a direct connetion.

I'm not familiar with Sygate, but most sharing/firewall programs seem to operate similarly. Even though you have allowed full access with the firewall, it may not be configured to allow full access on the proper ports. I found this info on the Sygate site...

Question: What is the reason that SygateŽ Personal Firewall blocks my SygateŽ Home Network clients internet access?

Details: You will need to create two rules, one to allow the TCP ports 36864-46864 and one to allow UDP ports 7000-17000. These are the ports needed by SygateŽ Home Network. Opening these ports should not cause a security hole as SygateŽ Home Network will be monitoring those ports.

To do this open SygateŽ Personal Firewall and click on the Tools menu and then on Advanced Rules. You may have to click OK on a warning message before entering the Advanced Rule Editor.
Once you are in the Advanced Rule Editor click Add, this will cause a new rule to come up. Give the new rule a name, such as "Allow SHN for TCP", and click on Allow this traffic option.
Then click on the Ports and Protocols tab and select the TCP option. Enable Local ports 36864-46864.
Then click OK to add in that rule.
Then click Add to add in the second rules. Give the rule a name, such as "Allow SHN for UDP", and click on Allow this traffic option.
Then click on the Ports and Protocols tab and select the UDP option. Enable Local ports 7000-17000
Then click OK to add in that rule, and then click OK to exit the Advanced Rule Editor.
