We are connecting a cisco router to a DSL connection with Verizon. Their technical support is unable to provide us with a PVC number? Has anyone setup a cisco router (1720) to Verison?

PVCs are part of a frame relay connection. What you have is DSL. You will need to the the DSL WIC for the serial expansion slot on the 1720. Then download Cisco's ConfigMaker 2.5 from the Cisco website and run the wizard to configure the WIC card. It'll even upload the config into the router.
Is there a specific reason why you want to use the 1720 router? A Linksys Router will do the same job for about $79. the DSL WIC for the 17xx series is like $400 I think. And Linksys can be setup in about 10 minutes.

We need the cisco because we are doing VPN to a PIX firewall connecting two reginal offices. Not having a problem bringing up the interface or a problem with the config either. Verizon just refuses to supply the PVC number. We have been using a cisco engineer some and also tried to get the Verison rep to provide the information but they are clueless. Thought maybe someone had setup a DSL line with Verison in the past and had the info.

You need to get to 2nd level to get that information. None of the 1st level support staff know anything in any of the departments. I've been dealing with verizon dsl (under different names) for over 3 years now, ever since it came online in my area. Back then I could get a PVC number from them with out a problem, now they moved the staff I used to work with up to 2nd level and inserted some outsourced 1st level call center staff.
Summary: D, Thanks for your response. I have found the uplink, the only thing I need to do now is learn to configure via the Switch Manager. Also, I say "rollover" cable because that is what Cisco refers t...
