Comment:

i have this cisco 2503 but it won't take a break sequence and drop to rommon. i am using hyperterm in windows xp.

i know the password needs to be reset, as i got the router used; but i seem unable to do anything at all no break, no commands whatsoever.

here's the output:

There is a problem with the esc key in hyper ter using Cisco routers, try using win98se hyper term or use another ter program. I think there is a patch for that on the hyper term website for that.

Here is something else you can try,

bring-up hyper ter and follow this:

file->properties->settings

(fuction arrow, and ctl keys act)

I would try the (windows keys) and click ok

I would try some of those settings or try going to the Cisco site to see what ter program they use the most?

The ter program has to be set at 9600 8-N-1
with the right cable, you do have it plug into the console port of the router?

yeah i can see it boot, i pasted the output in the first post. realize the problem is not so much the ability to send a break but the fact that i don't get a login prompt.
