Cisco 1700 Router loop

I have a cisco 1700 router connected to my pc by console cable. It display the router information and then Self decompressing the Image ##### Comes up. After Decompressing it start all over again, I cant seem to be able to interact with the router at all. Any help ???? Thanks !!!

I'd check the documentation for that router first for information on resetting the router to it's factory defaults. That may save you a lot of time and trouble if simply resetting the router does the trick.

I'm not at all familiar with the 1700 series. We use 2650 and 3650's (1U rack mounts) at work mostly. However, I did a quick check on Cisco's site and found the following link:

You might check out the "Cisco Configmaker" link at the bottom of the page. It may help you out. Sorry there's not more I can do to help but I've never run into a Cisco router that was stuck in a loop like that.

Also, check through the documentation on that model. If you can break out of the boot sequence before it loops you may be able to actually do something with it like build a new config quickly or update the image file and IOS. If you can break out of the boot sequence, updating the image file would likely be your best bet as it seems like you may have a corrupt image.

I think Curt got it. Sounds like a corrupted image. If you (or whoever set it up) saved a copy of it someplace like they should have, that one should work.
