HI,

I manage a small network of 10 computers.
Nowadays they all run Windows XP SP3 and they are all in the same network and in the same Work Group.
Moreover each computer has it own user (local profile) and basically that's it.

I want to install a server as to enable Active Directory and work with a domain.
The server is ready as to be installed but I want each user to have a movile profile (for backup purposes). The problem is that I want to transfer those local profiles to the new movile profiles I will create in the server.

What's the best way to transfer a local profile to a movile profile in the server?

Thanks,
Marcos.

I am not from USA, nor from England but please remember that I do know that a roaming profile may also be called a mobile profile.
Also remember that the 'V' is right behind the 'B' in the keyboard.

So yes, 'movile' ~= mobile....

So you want to make a backup of the users profile in the serer, in other words, eport the profles to say a text file.........?

So this has nothing really to do with the workgroup, this is really a question for the windows server 2003/2008 forum, but maybe someone can still answer ithere....

In MMC --> local users etc... is there an option to export??

Actually, the "v" is beside the "b", not behind it. I've never heard roaming profiles referred to as "Mobile." Regardless, if you setup Roaming Profiles on the server, it doesn't mean you will have backups of those profiles.

What do you want to copy from the existing profiles (Workgroup/Local) to the newly created Roaming ones?
